Ballet
We offer ballet classes from age 3 and up for boys and girls. The classes are well structured to teach self-discipline and follow a classical ballet syllabus from the ISTD.
Modern Theatre & Jazz
High energy and fun, our modern theatre and jazz classes are enjoyed by all. The ISTD syllabus encourages dancers to get the best from themselves whilst enjoying great choreography. Examinations are encouraged but not compulsory.
Tap
Following the ISTD syllabus, your child will gain excellent tap dancing technique whilst mastering fun and engaging choreography. We offer the opportunity to progress through the grades with examinations, but are not compulsory.
Contemporary
With the launch of the new ISTD curriculum for contemporary dance, we are now able to offer contemporary classes. Please get in touch to find out more.
LAMDA Musical Theatre
Our Musical Theatre learners develop their acting skills through song. They use vocal techniques to convey the right mood, and engage with the material to form a thoughtful interpretation of the song.
As they progress through the grades, learners explore characterisation through monologues or duologues, which are performed in character, and act as an introduction to their songs. They’ll also deepen their understanding of the history of musical theatre by performing songs from a range of eras, and by researching the work and influence of one of its composers or lyricists.
Acrobatic Arts
Acro - AcroDance, or acro as it is commonly referred to by dancers and dance professionals, is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Often defined by unique choreography, acro dancers seamlessly blend musicality, emotional expression, line and extension with acrobatic movements in a dance context.
Boogie Bunnies
We have a new class called Boogie Bunnies, if we could make a new class for that. With the following information and picture. "SBSOD Boogie Bunnies A pre school parent and child class for children aged 18months - 3years. This class will include various dance styles and will provide a wonderful introduction to all we have to offer in our main school. The class will be conducted by a fully qualified ISTD teacher who will carefully guide children and their parent/guardian through each class.
SBSOD MT Company
SBSOD MT Company is the sister company to the long established Sarah Burnell School of Dance.
After meeting and developing a great connection with Michael and Rhian Morwood, SBSOD MT Company was born. Their professionalism and expertise has allowed us to build a strong foundation for our musical theatre students. They now have the opportunity to become 'triple threat' performers with excellent training in dance, singing and acting.
Our aim is to develop and nurture these young performers whilst inspiring them to become confident and versatile in an ever changing industry. We hope that this production will be the first of many as we have many exciting plans to grow the company. We are also keen to welcome new members so please do get in touch if you are looking to get your child enrolled. Our most recent production of Annie Jr was performed in March 2025
